About the Business
Notley Abbey epitomises romance. This medieval Masterpiece and former home of Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh has played host to both royalty and celebrity. Restored to its former glory, Notley Abbey is the embodiment of elegance and style and can now be your home for Your big day.
In the early 16th Century Henry VIII and Cardinal Wolsey would stay at Notley on their way to Oxford. Later, Henry VIII was made the Head of the Church in England and the abbey was dissolved. In 1944 Sir Laurence Oliver and Vivien Leigh moved in. They hosted many celebrity parties and guests included Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller, Betty Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Kirk Douglas, Sir Noel Coward, Ralph Richardson, Judy Garland and Marlene Dietrich.
