About the Business
The Clandeboye Herd consists of approximately 70 Holstein and 30 Jersey cows. Cows have been milked at Clandeboye since the 1950s. There was some early interest in pedigree breeding, but it was not until 1992 that the Clandeboye prefix came back into use. A whole herd grade up was undertaken and since then our aim has been to breed high yielding, long lasting cows with some hopefully good enough to take into the show ring.
Several females from well established families were purchased. These included Rosinas from Templedale, Willows from Wedgwood and Stars from Bondhaven in Canada. The Ruths originate from the local Ards while the graded up Charleen, Marie and Oonagh families are developing well. The latest addition to the herd is Clarkestown Duplex Dellia EX92.
In 2001 we renovated the dairy buildings and built a new milking parlour. Our aim was to create a high quality environment for both the cows and the people working with them.
